About the role#
Cummins Inc. is hiring for Accounting Summer Internship positions for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid, on-site opportunity based in Columbus, Indiana. Interns work 40 hours per week for a duration of 10 to 12 weeks.
What you'll do#
Interns gain experience across accounting, tax, and audit functions. Responsibilities include:
- Provide financial and business analysis support.
- Participate in month-end close activities, such as preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Maintain Internal Control Documentation (Sarbanes-Oxley).
- Lead and participate in process improvement efforts.
- Act as a financial liaison for non-finance leaders by providing reporting and analysis.
- Compile and analyze accounting and finance information.
- Examine financial statements and transactions for accuracy and conformance with standards.
- Execute tax law projects, including research, data gathering, and preparation of state, local, and federal tax returns.
- Perform controls testing to evaluate the internal control environment, identify risks, and document audit results.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited U.S. college or university with a major in Accounting.
- A minimum GPA of 2.5.
- Ability to commit to 40 hours per week for 10 to 12 weeks.
- Current residency within the continental United States.
- A willingness to learn from others on the job.
