About the role#
As a year-round Finance & Accounting Intern, you will gain hands-on experience supporting the financial operations of Oshkosh Corporation. You will apply classroom knowledge to real business situations while working alongside finance professionals. Depending on your specific assignment, you may gain experience in corporate accounting, financial reporting, tax, treasury, financial analysis, or financial systems and controls.
What you'll do#
- Support monthly and quarterly close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and special projects.
- Prepare and review financial reports, schedules, and account activity.
- Support fixed asset accounting and related financial processes.
- Assist with sales and use tax returns, exemption certificates, and compliance activities.
- Support federal, state, and international income tax processes and reporting.
- Conduct tax research and assist with sales and use tax audits.
- Reconcile tax accounts and maintain information for state income tax payments and refunds.
- Support international tax activities, including foreign true-up calculations and country-by-country reporting.
- Assist with daily treasury operations, bank and cash reconciliations, and cash management activities.
- Monitor and track treasury operational metrics and benchmarks.
- Assist with financial controls, compliance requirements, and audit support.
- Support the implementation or improvement of financial and treasury systems, processes, and procedures.
- Prepare documentation, reports, invoices, and expense information.
- Identify opportunities to improve, simplify, or automate finance and accounting processes.
- Collaborate with finance professionals and business partners across the organization.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field.
- Interest in developing a career in accounting, finance, tax, or treasury.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with team members and business partners.
- Ability to work year-round.
- Availability for approximately 20 hours per week during the academic year.
- Full-time availability during summer and school breaks.
