About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. Working under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role provides an overview of store, district, and regional operations while you prepare for future responsibilities as a pharmacist. You will work as part of a team to ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly and patient needs are met.
What you'll do#
- Assist with pharmacy operations to ensure prescriptions are filled accurately and promptly.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures for safe prescription fulfillment at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations.
- Demonstrate empathy and caring service towards patients in all interactions.
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences and activities.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Support immunization services where allowable by law, including educating patients and documenting information.
- Manage basic inventory activities, such as cycle counts and putting away medication deliveries.
What you'll need#
- Acceptance into or active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe.
- Strong attention to detail and a focus on patient safety.
- Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet business needs.
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing for extended periods, reaching, and occasionally lifting up to 20 lbs.
