About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap that covers store, district, and regional operations. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist by immersing you in daily pharmacy operations and patient care.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Offer to counsel patients, field medical questions, and solicit information on medical history under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as putting away deliveries, cycle counts, and returns, as permitted by law.
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, which may include traveling to other stores in the market.
- Contribute to a safe and inclusive team environment while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
What you'll need#
- Acceptance into or active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Possession of, or the process of obtaining, valid intern or technician licensure as required.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Ability to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
- Strong attention to detail to confirm prescription information and label accuracy.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 20 lbs.
