About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap, gaining experience in store, district, and regional operations. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist by immersing you in daily pharmacy operations and patient care.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures at every workstation, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Demonstrate empathy and genuine care during all patient interactions, whether in person or over the phone.
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap focused on Key Learning Experiences.
- Contribute to a high-performing team, embrace a growth mindset, and remain receptive to feedback.
- Perform inventory tasks such as cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and processing medication deliveries.
- Obtain Technician Immunizer status to support vaccine administration and patient education.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to perform mathematical calculations related to medication dispensing.
- Ability to remain mobile for extended periods and lift up to 20 pounds.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site, part-time position located in Lafayette, Louisiana.
- The role follows a rolling term schedule.
