About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap that covers store, district, and regional operations. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist by providing hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at every workstation, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, providing caring service, and solving patient problems.
- Educate patients on the importance of vaccines and refer vaccination questions to the Pharmacist-on-duty.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as putting away deliveries, cycle counts, and returns, as permitted by law.
- Communicate effectively with prescribers to clarify prescriptions or facilitate medication changes where allowed by regulation.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or acceptance to an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to work at your home store and travel to other locations across the market to meet business needs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- A commitment to becoming immunization certified as state regulations allow.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
