About the role#
As a Graduate Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic learning from pharmacy school into real-world practice to prepare for a Pharmacist role. You will work under the direction of a preceptor and District Leader to complete a comprehensive training roadmap within 120 days of graduation. This role focuses on deepening your understanding of patient safety, quality assurance, and pharmacy operations while supporting the pharmacy team in delivering patient care.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure that pharmacy operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Educate patients about vaccines and answer questions to obtain informed consent.
- Deliver additional patient health care services, such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, where allowable by law and supported by training.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication changes when permitted by state regulation.
- Complete inventory activities, such as putting away medication deliveries and cycle counts.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members while sharing best practices.
What you'll need#
- PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the Post-Graduate Training Program.
- Ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within 120 days of graduation, per state guidelines.
- Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern or technician licensure as required.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to remain mobile and upright for extended periods, and lift up to 20 lbs.
