About the role#
As an Electrical Engineering Intern, you will join a project team to perform engineering and design duties under direct supervision. This role is designed to help you develop your job knowledge and technical abilities through real-world assignments. You will work on substation projects, learn corporate engineering practices, and gain hands-on experience at job sites.
What you'll do#
- Create design documents, drawings, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials.
- Apply field mark-ups to project as-built drawings.
- Perform engineering support tasks including relay burden, lighting, load flow, and short circuit calculations.
- Use engineering software for ground grid design, relay coordination, and transformer sizing.
- Learn and apply industry standards such as NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI.
- Travel to job sites for training in substation construction and design.
- Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of your work.
- Identify project-related problems and suggest possible solutions.
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- A power focus and prior internship or work experience in the power field are preferred.
- Knowledge of electrical AC/DC fundamentals and three-phase power systems.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Proficiency with common word processing, spreadsheet, and email software.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.

- Location: The Woodlands, Texas.
- This is a full-time, paid, on-site position.
- The role operates on a rolling term.
- You must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Short periods of out-of-town travel are required.
