About the role#
Doeren Mayhew offers winter internships for students pursuing a career in public accounting. You will work alongside professionals on engagement teams, gaining experience similar to that of a first-year associate. Opportunities are available across four service groups: Corporate Audit, Financial Institutions Group Audit, Domestic Tax, and International Tax. You will complete a hands-on training program at the start of the internship to learn firm software and procedures.
What you'll do#
- Work on engagement teams to complete audits, reviews, and compilations.
- Travel to client sites to perform audit engagements.
- Compile and analyze financial information, test business transactions, and prepare financial statements.
- Assist with the preparation of corporate and individual tax returns.
- Conduct tax research and work on tax projections.
- Assist with the preparation of foreign disclosures and collaborate with tax team members.
- Gain exposure to various industries, including manufacturing, construction, non-profit, retail, and hospitality.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Accounting.
- A 3.0 GPA in both your cumulative and accounting major coursework.
- Completion of at least one intermediate accounting course by winter 2027 is preferred.
- Ability to work 40 to 55 hours per week, including Saturdays, from January 5, 2027, through April 15, 2027.
- Strong drive for a career in public accounting and a willingness to learn.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to take initiative.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
- Prior work experience is preferred.
