About the role#
The Graduate Assistant for the Women’s Leadership Initiative supports the development, coordination, and execution of department programs. This is a 10-month appointment requiring approximately 20 hours of work per week. The role reports to the Assistant Director of TRIO and involves building relationships across university departments.
What you'll do#
- Plan the one-day Leadership Symposium scheduled for the fall semester.
- Build a comprehensive leadership program that combines theory with practical application.
- Mentor a cohort of second-year undergraduate students to support their leadership growth.
- Lead monthly check-ins with mentees.
- Organize and facilitate monthly leadership workshops.
- Collaborate with other university departments on joint initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or acceptance into a graduate program.
- At least one year of experience working in or participating in leadership programs.
- Experience with leadership development for students from marginalized communities.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
Location & details#
- Location: River Forest, Illinois.
- Term: September 2026 through June 2027.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: Monthly stipend of $1,360 or tuition remission for up to 6 credit hours for fall 2026 and 6 credit hours for spring 2027.
