About the role#
Domtar is seeking engineering students for internship and co-op opportunities at the Ashdown mill. This program offers hands-on experience in a large-scale manufacturing environment. You will work alongside experienced engineers on capital projects, maintenance, and process optimization. We offer roles for the Winter, Summer, and Fall 2027 terms. These are paid, full-time, on-site positions.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to projects that improve production, reliability, safety, quality, and operational performance.
- Analyze operational data and production costs to identify improvement opportunities.
- Support engineering projects from concept through implementation, including design, drafting, and field execution.
- Assist with process optimization, troubleshooting, and reliability initiatives.
- Collaborate with engineers, operations, maintenance teams, and contractors to solve technical challenges.
- Research and document processes, standards, and procedures.
- Present project findings and recommendations to mill teams.
- Gain experience with advanced manufacturing systems, instrumentation, and maintenance activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a sophomore, junior, or senior in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Technical writing, presentation, and critical thinking skills.
- CAD experience is preferred.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check, education verification, and pre-employment drug and alcohol screenings.
