    About the role#

    Elk Valley Resources is hiring for a Mechanical Engineering Co-op position for the Winter 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Sparwood or Elkford, British Columbia. You will work directly with engineering teams and skilled trades to support maintenance and reliability initiatives across our mining operations.

    What you'll do#

    • Coordinate maintenance projects in processing plants, water treatment facilities, or mobile maintenance shops.
    • Organize, schedule, and track the status of ongoing maintenance work.
    • Monitor project budgets to identify inefficiencies and suggest cost-effective solutions.
    • Work with skilled trades to troubleshoot equipment failures and develop repair scopes.
    • Collaborate with the engineering team to create detailed mechanical designs for site upgrades.
    • Participate in root cause analysis and support reliability maintenance initiatives.
    • Adhere to all health and safety programs and policies.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in an undergraduate Mechanical Engineering degree program.
    • A valid Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
    • A solid understanding of AutoCAD and Solidworks.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects at once.
    • Comfort working in an industrial environment alongside technical and operational personnel.

    • Locations: Sparwood, BC and Elkford, BC.
    • Term: Winter 2027 (8 or 12 months).
    • Work Modality: On-site.
    • Compensation: This is a paid position.
