    About the role#

    EnerNex is hiring an intern to support engineering studies for wind plants and utility power systems. This position is based in Knoxville, Tennessee. The internship lasts between three and six months. We consider all experience levels, though your specific tasks and level of supervision will depend on your background and education.

    What you'll do#

    • Perform power system studies, including harmonic, transient, short circuit, and arc flash analysis.
    • Conduct ground fault settings and protective device coordination.
    • Analyze data related to bulk transmission, power quality, and distributed generation.
    • Write engineering reports to document your findings.
    • Build software tools to help with data analysis and system studies.
    • Complete routine tasks to support project requirements.

    What you'll need#

    • A BSEE degree is required. A Masters or PhD is desirable.
    • Strong English communication and report-writing skills.
    • Knowledge of power system simulations like load flow, stability, or transient analysis is helpful.
    • Familiarity with simulation tools such as PSCAD/EMTDC, PSS/E, ETAP, EMTP-RV, DIgSILENT, GE PSLF, or OpenDSS.
    • Experience with high-level programming languages like Python, Matlab, Java, C++, or VBA.
    • Experience with power electronics or a history of journal and conference publications is a plus.

    • This is an on-site role in Knoxville, TN.
    • The position is paid and full-time.
