About the role#
We are looking for a Hazard Mitigation and Resilience Planner intern to join our team in Morrisville for the summer of 2027. You will work alongside our planning team to support hazard mitigation and resilience projects for state, local, and Tribal clients. This is a full-time, on-site, paid internship.
What you'll do#
- Provide technical assistance for hazard mitigation and resilience planning.
- Gather and analyze data to conduct risk and capability assessments.
- Create mitigation and resilience strategies for planning documents.
- Summarize findings and prepare final reports in physical or digital formats.
- Lead planning meetings, workshops, and public sessions.
- Manage project communication with participating jurisdictions, FEMA, and State Emergency Management Offices.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program for Planning or a related field.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
- Prior experience with report or plan preparation.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
- A satisfactory driving record.
- An eagerness to learn and a positive attitude.
- Familiarity with federal and state hazard mitigation programs or GIS experience is a plus.
