About the role#
We are looking for a Bioinformatics Summer Intern to help develop RNA-seq analysis pipelines and machine learning models. You will focus on biomarker discovery and clinical diagnostics. This role is a 12-week, full-time position for those interested in translational genomics and AI in healthcare.
What you'll do#
- Analyze RNA-seq datasets through preprocessing, quality control, normalization, and differential expression analysis.
- Build and optimize bioinformatics pipelines for transcriptomic data, including bulk RNA-seq and degraded samples.
- Identify diagnostic or predictive biomarkers using statistical and machine learning methods.
- Assist in the development and evaluation of predictive models, including deep learning approaches.
- Explore how large language models or multimodal AI can interpret biological data.
- Work with wet-lab scientists and cross-functional teams to refine experimental design and interpret results.
- Present your findings through internal reports and visualizations.
What you'll need#
- Current PhD student, recent PhD graduate, or postdoctoral researcher in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biology, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with RNA-seq data analysis.
- Strong programming skills in R or Python.
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments and bash scripting.
- Formal training in statistics and machine learning.
- Experience with machine learning frameworks like scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch is preferred.
- Familiarity with NGS pipelines, high-performance computing, or cloud environments is a plus.
