About the role#
The Field Engineer Intern provides hands-on support to heavy civil project teams. You will work alongside Field Engineers, Project Engineers, and Superintendents to gain practical experience in construction management and jobsite operations on large-scale infrastructure projects.
What you'll do#
- Support daily field operations, work planning, and production tracking.
- Assist with material take-offs, quantity tracking, and verifying installed work.
- Help interpret construction plans, specifications, and layouts.
- Participate in surveying activities to learn basic layout and measurement techniques.
- Observe and support jobsite safety practices, including Job Hazard Analysis and safety observations.
- Prepare documentation such as daily reports, field logs, and project records.
- Assess labor, equipment, and material usage for production activities.
- Communicate with field crews and project team members to assist with work execution.
- Use Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word to support engineering tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program for civil engineering, construction management, construction science, or a related field.
- A genuine interest in heavy civil construction and field-based project work.
- Professional English communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Moderate computer skills with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to perform moderate physical activity in an active jobsite environment.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- A basic understanding of construction math concepts is preferred.
