About the role#
The Student Financial Services Associate provides financial aid and account counseling to students. You will serve as an initial point of contact for the Financial Aid and Business Offices, helping students understand their financial aid status and account balances. This role involves analyzing individual financial circumstances and processing documentation for scholarships, eligibility, and the Community College Alliance program.
What you'll do#
- Educate students on payment plans, tuition deferment, billing charges, and financial holds.
- Assist students with FAFSA completion, federal loan counseling, and the Master Promissory Note.
- Process financial aid professional judgment appeals and review documents like Default Clear letters and Reaffirmations.
- Conduct outreach to students at risk of losing financial aid eligibility or enrollment status.
- Organize on-campus events to promote financial wellness and support recruitment or retention efforts.
- Prepare graduating seniors for loan repayment and manage special projects.
- Create and maintain financial aid policies and procedures.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor’s degree.
- At least one year of experience in student financial aid, student accounts, or student affairs.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and Title IV federal financial aid regulations is preferred.
- Experience with Ellucian Colleague is a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: Columbus, Ohio.
- Schedule: Hybrid. Standard hours are Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. An evening shift until 7 p.m. is required once every three months.
