    About the role#

    The Department of Mathematics is hiring a Finance and Administrative Intern. This position provides practical experience in financial administration and budgeting while supporting daily operations. You will work under the supervision of the Department Finance and Administration Manager. This role is part of the Internship Placement Program and requires enrollment in a one-credit course or participation in an asynchronous workshop series.

    What you'll do#

    • Provide receptionist and front-desk support.
    • Assist with departmental financial adjustments in Workday Finance.
    • Order departmental supplies and track purchases.
    • Prepare and update recurring financial reports using Microsoft Excel.
    • Support additional administrative and financial projects as assigned.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment as a UVA student.
    • Federal work-study eligibility.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • An interest in finance, budgeting, accounting, or administrative operations is preferred.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Kerchof Hall, Charlottesville, Virginia.
    • Work modality: On-site.
    • Schedule: Approximately 10 hours per week.
    • Compensation: $18 per hour.
    • Employment type: Part-time.
