About the role#
The University of Virginia Comprehensive Cancer Center offers undergraduate scholar positions within the School of Medicine Shared Resource cores. Students work under the mentorship of a core director to gain experience in cancer research. This position is part of the Federal Work Study program.
What you'll do#
- Perform lab tasks including safety training, pipetting, and solution preparation.
- Manage data entry and assist with experimental setup and cleanup.
- Process samples and perform chemical modifications for mass spectrometry.
- Attend three lectures on cancer research and two research seminars each semester.
- Shadow researchers and lab technicians to learn standard procedures.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at the University of Virginia.
- Active Federal Work Study eligibility.
- Interest in fields such as Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or Chemistry.
