About the role#
FTI is hiring for a Construction Safety Internship for Summer 2027. This is a full-time, paid position that requires travel between 60% and 75% of the time. You will assist the Safety Department in developing and coordinating loss control functions while working on-site.
What you'll do#
- Monitor compliance with government regulatory agencies such as OSHA, MSHA, and DNR.
- Collaborate with the Safety Department to improve health and safety standards.
- Interface with customers, general contractors, and specialty contractors.
- Participate in and lead monthly job site ORM discussions and tool box talks.
- Act as a supplemental contact for onsite safety issues.
- Conduct job site safety audits to identify unsafe conditions and ensure corrective actions.
- Support site personnel and assist with task safety analysis and pre-planning.
- Help train employees in company safety practices, including aerial lift and forklift operation.
- Manage the submission and tracking of safety forms, plans, and correspondence.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an approved Safety and Health Program.
- Proficiency with a PC and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong knowledge of safety equipment, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle customer and employee concerns with professionalism.
- Capability to present information and lead group discussions.
- Skill in tracking and organizing safety statistics.
- Ability to operate various types of construction equipment.
- Knowledge of the electrical construction trade is preferred.
- A strong commitment to prioritizing employee safety above other site concerns.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site role based in Appleton, WI; Opelika, AL; Pittsboro, IN; Tulsa, OK; Smyrna, GA; or El Paso, TX.
- The work schedule is Monday through Friday, between 6 AM and 6 PM. Flexibility is required as the schedule may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
