About the role#
Join the transportation team as a Traffic Engineering Intern. You will support real client projects and work alongside experienced professionals to gain hands-on experience in the civil engineering industry. This internship runs from mid-May through mid-August 2027.
What you'll do#
- Perform traffic analysis and design tasks for transportation projects.
- Prepare plans, write reports, and complete calculations.
- Assist with quantity and cost estimates.
- Help prepare project specifications.
- Check drawings, reports, and calculations for accuracy.
- Run traffic analysis models.
- Use CAD design software to support project needs.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ABET-accredited undergraduate or graduate Civil Engineering program with a focus on transportation.
- Demonstrated interest in traffic or transportation engineering through coursework, work experience, or internships.
- A basic understanding of traffic engineering principles.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or MicroStation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- A willingness to communicate and learn from experienced team members.
- Ability to obtain federal security clearance.
- Experience with Synchro, SimTraffic, HCS, or VISSIM software is preferred.
- Familiarity with GIS software like ArcGIS Pro or qGIS is a plus.

- Compensation: $21.00 - $28.00 per hour, depending on experience and location.
