About the role#
GCI Communication Corp. offers a telecommunications internship program designed to provide students with hands-on experience in a real-world business environment. You will work alongside employees to develop a project that aligns with your interests and the needs of your assigned department. This role functions as a staff member, allowing you to gain practical knowledge while supporting the organization.
What you'll do#
- Complete an assigned project in accordance with directions, timeframes, scope, and budget.
- Produce a well-written project report that outlines the steps taken and conclusions reached.
- Maintain a weekly log of activities including contacts, meetings, and references.
- Meet with a mentor on a weekly basis to review your project progress.
- Participate in research, analysis, and report generation.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment as a high school junior or senior, or as a college student.
- A minimum GPA of 2.8.
- Must be at least 14 years of age and meet all regulations set by the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with computer tools including the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Relevant majors include Business Administration, Communications, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
Location & details#
- Location: Anchorage, Alaska.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- This is a full-time, unpaid internship with a rolling term.
- The role may require access to reliable transportation for occasional travel between worksites. You may be asked to work additional time on weekends, holidays, or outside of normal hours when necessary.
