    About the role#

    As a Manufacturing Engineering intern for General Assembly, you will gain hands-on experience in plant and corporate environments. This role focuses on developing the processes, equipment, and tools used to assemble vehicles. You will work on projects that support assembly plants, assist in the design and validation of manufacturing systems, and help implement new automation technology.

    What you'll do#

    • Analyze products and processes to determine the most effective methods for vehicle assembly.
    • Support the design, build, and validation of manufacturing tools and equipment.
    • Coordinate machinery and equipment upgrade projects.
    • Develop and validate new automation technology, including autonomous mobile equipment.
    • Troubleshoot specialized equipment and assist maintenance personnel with operations.
    • Recommend improvements for existing manufacturing processes.

    What you'll need#

    • Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Kinesiology.
    • Expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2029.
    • Ability to work full-time, 40 hours per week, during the summer of 2027.
    • Willingness to work in a plant environment and availability to work any shift, including weekends.

    • This is a paid, full-time internship for Summer 2027.
    • The role is strictly on-site at various locations, including Warren, MI; Detroit-Hamtramck, MI; Flint, MI; Lansing, MI; Orion, MI; Milford, MI; Fort Wayne, IN; Arlington, TX; Bowling Green, KY; Spring Hill, TN; Wentzville, MO; and Fairfax, KS.
