    About the role#

    This is a paid, full-time co-op position for Summer 2026. You will join the Office of the Auditor General to support audits that focus on government accountability and the use of public funds. This role provides hands-on experience in public sector auditing and exposure to Canadian Auditing Standards and Public Sector Accounting Standards. You will work in a professional environment and receive mentorship from experienced audit staff.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist with audit planning, fieldwork, and documentation.
    • Test and evaluate internal controls and transactions.
    • Perform basic data analysis and review business processes.
    • Support audit teams in assessing compliance with legislation and policies.
    • Work collaboratively as part of an audit team.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment in a post-secondary degree program as a 3rd or 4th year accounting major.
    • You must be returning to school for at least one academic term after this work term ends.
    • Progress toward completing prerequisites for future entry into the Canadian CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP).
    • Proficiency in MS Excel.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

    • Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia.
    • Work Modality: On-site.
    • Term: Approximately 13 weeks, from May 4, 2026, to July 31, 2026.
    • Note: Some travel within Nova Scotia may be required.
