About the role#
This is a paid internship designed to prepare you for a career as a service mechanic. You will balance hands-on work at the dealership with a two-year associate degree through a John Deere TECH program. The goal is to build your technical skills and knowledge of equipment diagnostics, repair, and service operations.
What you'll do#
- Assist senior technicians with daily tasks and learn basic service procedures.
- Develop skills in the removal, disassembly, and reconditioning of components.
- Perform pre-delivery set-up and inspections on new equipment.
- Document diagnostics and repairs accurately and on time.
- Manage your billable time and work orders.
- Learn how to use the dealer business system and track labor efficiency.
- Maintain your work area, tools, and company vehicles.
- Participate in Service EDUCATE Training programs.
- Keep up to date on John Deere and competitive product information.
- Follow all safety regulations.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a John Deere Tech School to complete two years of instructor-led classroom and lab training.
- Ability to complete the minimum required hours working on-site at the dealership.
- Completion of required John Deere University credits.
- Certification in Electrical, Hydraulics, and Service ADVISOR systems.
- Pursuit of a degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.

- This is a full-time, on-site, paid position with a rolling term.
- Locations include Union, MI; Winamac, IN; Warsaw, IN; Jonesville, MI; Hastings, MI; Three Rivers, MI; Athens, MI; Kent City, MI; Sodus, MI; LaGrange, IN; Plymouth, IN; and Monticello, IN.
