    About the role#

    As a Peer Academic Coach, you will help students build the habits and strategies they need for long-term success. This role focuses on academic skills rather than specific course content. You will work with students to improve their organization, time management, and study habits. This is a paid position for students who want to support their peers in reaching their academic goals.

    What you'll do#

    • Meet one-on-one with students to assess their academic strengths and challenges.
    • Create personalized study plans and time-management systems.
    • Teach effective habits for note-taking, test preparation, and reading comprehension.
    • Follow up with students identified through the Early Alert process.
    • Help students set and monitor short- and long-term academic goals.
    • Refer students to other campus resources like the Writing Center or counseling services.
    • Maintain confidential records of your coaching sessions.
    • Communicate with the Academic Support Services Coordinator about student progress.
    • Attend staff meetings and required training sessions.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment at Greenville University with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
    • Strong communication and organizational skills.
    • An empathetic and non-judgmental approach to working with peers.
    • Ability to manage a caseload of students independently.
    • Reliability and the ability to work in a self-directed manner.
    • Previous experience in leadership, tutoring, or peer mentoring is preferred.
    • A faculty or staff recommendation may be requested.

    Location & details#

    • This role is located on-site in Greenville, Illinois.
    • This is a part-time student worker position.
    • Hiring is conducted on a rolling basis.
