About the role#
The Hamilton County Emergency Management & Homeland Security Agency (EMHSA) offers a paid internship for students or recent graduates interested in public safety. You will work alongside experienced staff to support county-level emergency management efforts. This role provides practical experience in planning, community outreach, and disaster preparedness.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the development, review, and updating of emergency management plans and procedures.
- Participate in planning meetings, internal briefings, and collaborative projects with agency personnel and partner departments.
- Support public information efforts by creating outreach materials and preparedness messaging.
- Help coordinate and execute emergency exercises and drills, including setup and facilitation.
- Complete assigned FEMA Independent Study courses and other relevant professional training.
What you'll need#
- Current student or recent graduate status in a field such as Public Health, Criminal Justice, Political Science, Urban Planning, or Communications.
- A valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to perform duties in an office setting.
- Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.

- Location: Cincinnati, OH.
- Modality: On-site at the Joint Hamilton County EMA/9-1-1 Center.
- Schedule: 20 hours per week.
- Status: Paid internship.
