About the role#
Harmony United Psychiatric Care offers a hands-on internship program for individuals interested in starting a career in healthcare. This program provides foundational training in medical office operations within a mental health setting. You will gain practical skills through supervised practice and mentorship. Upon completing 600 hours, you will receive a certificate of completion and a reference letter to support your future career or education goals.
What you'll do#
You will work under supervision to learn daily clinic operations. Your tasks include:
- Managing patient check-in and check-out procedures.
- Handling professional phone calls and scheduling appointments.
- Using MEDENT software for Electronic Health Record tasks.
- Overseeing patient flow and the waiting area.
- Learning the basics of insurance billing and coding.
- Assisting with administrative duties like faxing, filing, and copying.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You must have graduated from high school.
- No prior healthcare or office experience is required.
- You must be able to maintain a consistent schedule.
- You must pass a background check and drug screening.
Location & details#
- This position is located in Port Saint John, Florida.
- This is an on-site, unpaid internship.
- The schedule is flexible with a minimum of 20 hours per week.
- The program duration is 3 to 6 months, totaling 600 hours.
