    About the role#

    Heidelberg Materials is hiring a Mining Engineer Intern to join our team in Mccook, Illinois. This is a full-time, paid, rolling internship that provides hands-on experience in aggregate mining and production. You will work in both office and outdoor environments, gaining exposure to active production areas and operational sites.

    What you'll do#

    • Support daily aggregate mining and production through field work.
    • Assist with safety, environmental, and operational compliance initiatives.
    • Collect, analyze, and report data to support improvement efforts.
    • Collaborate with plant leadership and cross-functional teams on maintenance and production projects.
    • Participate in problem-solving activities to improve operational efficiency, quality, and performance.

    • Demonstrated interest in mining, geology, engineering, construction materials, or related fields.
    • Ability to analyze information, identify solutions, and support operational decisions.
    • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

    • This role involves regular exposure to weather conditions, moving equipment, and active production areas. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment and may need to walk, stand, climb, or lift items as part of your daily tasks.
