About the role#
As a summer intern in our Ashland office, you will work on a variety of engineering projects. You will work either independently or alongside our staff. This role is open to students across different academic levels, with tasks assigned based on your experience. Level 1 interns focus on field tasks related to construction materials testing. Level 2 interns handle a mix of field tasks and office assignments, including technical support and reporting.
What you'll do#
- Perform field observation, sampling, and testing of construction materials such as soil, concrete, asphalt, and steel.
- Document your findings clearly and accurately.
- Assist in report creation and soil classification for Level 2 assignments.
- Complete Level 1 tasks involving field work on construction materials testing projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Civil Engineering, Geology, or related engineering program. Geotechnical students are preferred.
- Ability to commit to at least 10 weeks of work during the summer.
- A valid driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and a reliable vehicle for travel to construction sites.
- Physical ability to lift or move up to 60-80 pounds.
- Proficiency in basic math and the use of measurement tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
