About the role#
As an Electro-Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will work alongside senior engineers to support the design, testing, and documentation of mechanical and electrical subsystems. This role focuses on developing and validating hardware for both production and research environments. You will gain experience in a professional engineering setting while contributing to real-world projects.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design and analysis of electro-mechanical components, assemblies, and fixtures using CAD tools and engineering calculations.
- Support equipment setup, testing, and data collection for prototypes and production hardware.
- Build and rework mechanical and electrical test setups, including wiring and harnesses, under supervision.
- Document test procedures, results, and design changes through drawings, schematics, and reports.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing teams to ensure proper component integration.
- Follow lab and shop safety procedures and maintain proper tool usage.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by updating work instructions, bills of materials, and test methods.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technology discipline.
- Completion of at least 2 years of undergraduate coursework.
- Hands-on experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, SolidEdge, or CREO.
- Proficiency in MS Office, specifically with high-level skills in MS Excel.
- Basic understanding of mechanics, materials, and circuit theory.
- Ability to use hand tools, measurement devices like calipers or multimeters, and standard lab equipment.
- Exposure to data acquisition tools like LabVIEW, MATLAB, or Python is a plus.
