About the role#
Hexagon is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join the GNSS positioning hardware team. This is a 12-month, full-time position based in Calgary. You will work on the full product development cycle, from initial concept and prototype development through to qualification testing and manufacturing release.
What you'll do#
- Create and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies, detailed drawings, and engineering documentation.
- Design GNSS product enclosures, antenna housings, seals, gaskets, mounting systems, and test fixtures.
- Support PCB integration and packaging while considering antenna performance, EMI, and EMC requirements.
- Develop and execute design verification test specifications, plans, and procedures.
- Support environmental testing, including Sine Sweep, Random Vibration, HALT, thermal cycling, ingress protection, and leak testing.
- Build and evaluate prototypes for fit, function, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Participate in design reviews and root-cause investigations.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an Engineering Internship or Co-op program in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, or a related discipline.
- Completion of at least your 2nd or 3rd year of studies by the start of the work term.
- Experience with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or Inventor.
- Availability for a 12-month, full-time commitment.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
