About the role#
The Financial Innovation Lab at Hitachi is seeking a Research Science Intern to work on practical research problems involving artificial intelligence. You will join our team in Silicon Valley to create innovative algorithms and solutions. We pair interns with mentors to guide them through projects that align with their skills and interests. You will work with large data sets and build solutions that address real customer challenges.
What you'll do#
- Research and develop algorithms for finance, insurance, and the Internet of Things.
- Prepare and execute proof-of-concepts in collaboration with other researchers.
- Publish technical results in conferences and file patents.
What you'll need#
- Ph.D or Ph.D candidate status in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Quantitative Finance, Operational Research, or a related field.
- Strong research experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or financial mathematics.
- Proficiency in Python and data science tools.
- Ability to communicate technical findings through patent applications, papers, and reports.
- A self-motivated approach to solving problems with big data analytics.
- Experience with multicore programming, databases, cloud deployment, or time series analysis is a plus.

- Location: Santa Clara, California.
- Modality: This is an on-site, full-time internship.
- Compensation: The hourly rate for this position is $30 to $38 per hour, with eligibility for a variable pay program.
