About the role#
The Illinois Farm Bureau represents farmers on environmental and natural resource issues. As an Environmental Policy Intern, you will join the Government Affairs Division. You will gain exposure to regulatory processes, policymaking, and the challenges facing modern agriculture while working with the Environmental Policy Team.
What you'll do#
- Research emerging environmental issues.
- Support policy and educational initiatives.
- Communicate timely information to farmers and County Farm Bureaus across the state.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a degree in Soil Science, Agronomy, Crop Sciences, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Sustainable Agriculture, Agricultural Science, or related fields.
- Graduation date of August 2027 or beyond.
- Ability to research, analyze, and summarize environmental issues.
- Familiarity with ArcGIS.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Dependable and detail oriented.
- Strong interest in agriculture, conservation, soil health, and environmental policy.

- Location: Bloomington, Illinois.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Schedule: Full-time from late May 2027 to early August 2027.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- This position is paid and does not offer visa sponsorship.

The Illinois Farm Bureau is a nonprofit membership organization based in Bloomington. It started in 1916 as the Illinois Agricultural Association.
