About the role#
This internship provides hands-on training for individuals pursuing a career in commercial and industrial electrical systems. You will work alongside experienced electricians to gain practical skills in installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. The role offers a structured learning path focused on building electrical systems, safety protocols, and code compliance.
What you'll do#
- Learn to use testing equipment like multimeters, ammeters, and voltage testers to diagnose electrical issues.
- Assist with inspecting, testing, and maintaining electrical distribution systems, lighting, power outlets, and equipment connections.
- Help install and maintain building electrical systems including lighting fixtures, circuit breakers, transformers, and control panels.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
- Document work performed, materials used, and system modifications in facility management systems.
- Support energy efficiency initiatives such as LED retrofits and lighting controls.
- Attend regular safety training and adhere to National Electrical Code (NEC) standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand how electrical systems integrate with other building infrastructure.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent completion of a degree in electrical technology, electrical engineering, or a related technical field.
- A basic understanding of electrical theory and safety practices.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and mechanical aptitude.
- Good mathematical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work in various physical positions like ladders or confined spaces.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
