About the role#
K&L Gates is seeking an AI Intern to join our team in Pittsburgh. This role focuses on applied AI initiatives, specifically working with Large Language Models, agentic workflows, and automation. You will gain experience building, evaluating, and iterating on AI solutions within an enterprise environment. This internship is designed for students who want to move beyond theory to build and deploy practical AI tools.
What you'll do#
- Prototype and improve AI-powered solutions to deliver practical outcomes.
- Design, build, and maintain machine learning models and AI-driven systems.
- Test, deploy, and manage AI systems throughout their lifecycle.
- Support LLM experimentation, including prompting, tool orchestration, and related workflows.
- Contribute to vector search, embeddings, and RAG pipelines.
- Develop evaluation approaches to measure the quality and reliability of AI solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI capabilities into existing business systems.
- Document technical work for both technical and non-technical audiences.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Foundational programming skills.
- A solid understanding of core AI and machine learning concepts.
- Familiarity with the capabilities and limitations of LLMs.
- Ability to communicate clearly and document technical processes.
