About the role#
As a Quality Intern with the MEC Transportation District, you will assist with quality control and quality assurance activities. This role involves documenting project progress, performing inspections, and ensuring work meets contract requirements. You will work in the field or in a shop environment to support project goals and maintain high standards for our transit and rail systems.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate and document quality control activities to align with project schedules.
- Perform inspections and tests to ensure compliance with standards and codes.
- Collaborate with operations teams to develop and review work packs before construction begins.
- Manage source and receiving inspections for equipment and materials.
- Evaluate supplier documentation for contract compliance.
- Monitor costs for third-party testing services and report trends to management.
- Communicate test results and quality records to the project team.
- Address client concerns regarding quality and maintain transparent communication.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Welding Technology, or a related field.
- Willingness to travel and relocate as needed for project assignments.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines.
- Commitment to safety and high ethical standards.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with construction quality control procedures is preferred.
- Certifications like ASQ, CQM, CQA, or CWI are a plus.
- Working knowledge of construction trades and inspection techniques is preferred.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship for the Fall 2026 term.
- The role is based on-site in Dallas, Texas, with the expectation that you may need to relocate based on project needs.
- You must be able to work during normal operating hours, with potential for overtime and weekend work as required.
