About the role#
The Spring 2027 Construction Project Engineer Internship is a 12-week immersive program. You will work under the guidance of project managers and construction managers to gain hands-on experience in the retail construction field. This is a full-time, paid position based on-site in Salt Lake City.
What you'll do#
- Assist project managers with essential job functions, including pre-remodel checklists and drawing reviews.
- Support the contractor bid process and track equipment orders to ensure they align with construction schedules.
- Participate in department meetings and team huddles.
- Inspect capital projects to ensure compliance with specifications and quality control standards.
- Manage store fixture installations and assist with project closeout tasks like punch lists and final invoicing.
- Coordinate plan reviews with technical staff and evaluate the validity of proposed change orders.
- Complete specific assignments required by your academic program and present a cumulative project summary to management.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Construction Management, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Environmental Engineering, or Architecture degree program.
- A preferred GPA of 3.0.
- Prior experience in a construction environment.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in groups or independently.
- A highly motivated mindset with the desire to take initiative on your work.
