About the role#
WSP is hiring a Civil Engineering Intern for our Transportation and Infrastructure team in Chicago. This is a 12-week, full-time, paid internship scheduled for Summer 2027. You will work on-site at our downtown office and gain experience on real projects alongside senior staff.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering tasks to build technical and professional skills.
- Learn the basic principles of Civil Transportation Design Engineering.
- Assist with research, field work, and preliminary design analysis.
- Help prepare final design plans, cost estimates, and special provisions.
- Maintain project documentation and complete assigned training.
- Follow company policies, including the Code of Conduct.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Civil Engineering program (Undergraduate, Masters, or PhD).
- Interest in Transportation and Roadway Design.
- Ability to work in the United States.
- Competent communication skills and the ability to follow direction from managers.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office tools, and spreadsheets.
- A commitment to workplace safety and professional conduct.
- Preferred: Experience with Bentley and Autodesk software, plus prior internship or campus leadership experience.

- Term: Summer 2027 (12 weeks).

- Compensation: $23.90 - $27.50 per hour.
