About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in Cypress, California. You will work on-site with the Electro-Optical and Infrared Systems team to support the development of space mission payloads. This is a 12-14 week program designed to provide hands-on experience through research, design support, and engineering verification tasks.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineering staff with daily assignments and project tasks.
- Conduct design analysis and engineering calculations under supervision.
- Gather and assemble technical data.
- Provide regular updates on your progress and status.
- Help with design details and drafting.
- Perform various tasks to learn about internal methods, programs, and engineering practices.
- Support and represent the mission and culture of the organization.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited university with at least 3rd year status or an Associate degree in an engineering curriculum.
- Preference for students pursuing an undergraduate or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain an active DOD security clearance.
- Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD), whether through coursework or projects.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly and machine shop tools.
- Demonstrated leadership in team settings.
- Ability to work on-site in Cypress, CA.
- A diligent, hardworking, and quick-to-learn mindset.
