About the role#
This 9-week summer internship at the Mount Airy plant focuses on quarry operations. You will gain hands-on experience in blasting, heavy equipment operation, plant maintenance, and sales. The program builds core skills in safety, planning, and operations while allowing you to network with industry professionals.
What you'll do#
- Complete projects and daily tasks with attention to detail.
- Participate in hands-on training in pit and plant activities.
- Assist with equipment maintenance and repair.
- Run lab tests and follow quality control procedures.
- Support sales and dispatch by weighing and ticketing haul trucks.
- Keep your work area clean and organized.
- Attend daily safety briefings and report hazards.
- Ask supervisors and team members for feedback and coaching.
- Present a summary of your experiences and learning at the end of the summer.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an advanced degree or certificate program related to the mining industry.
- A genuine desire to grow your career within the mining field.
