About the role#
This is a 9-week summer internship focused on quarry operations at our Rockville plant. You will gain hands-on experience in areas including blasting, heavy equipment operation, plant maintenance, quality control, and sales dispatch. The program helps you build core skills in equipment management, safety protocols, and operational planning.
What you'll do#
- Complete projects with attention to detail.
- Participate in pit and plant activities.
- Assist with the maintenance and repair of equipment.
- Follow quality control procedures and perform lab testing.
- Support sales and dispatch tasks like weighing and ticketing haul trucks.
- Keep your work area clean and organized.
- Attend daily safety briefings and help identify hazards.
- Seek feedback and coaching from team members and supervisors.
- Give a final presentation at the end of the summer to summarize your experience.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an advanced degree or certificate program in a related discipline.
- A genuine interest in growing a career within the mining field.
