About the role#
Marathon Petroleum Corporation offers accounting internship and co-op opportunities for the Fall 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid position that provides on-the-job training in the petroleum industry. Interns gain experience across various accounting functions, including audit, general accounting, joint venture operations, property, and tax. You will work 40 hours per week in an on-site environment.
What you'll do#
- Analyze and process business documents.
- Review accounting and financial data to prepare journal entries for financial statements.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Prepare tax information.
- Test SOX and non-SOX controls during audits.
- Assist with budget preparation.
- Collaborate with departments outside of the Controller's Organization.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program or higher.
- Accounting major preferred, though other business majors may be considered.
- Strong academic performance.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week.
- Reliable transportation to and from the workplace.
- Authorization to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for visa sponsorship.
