About the role#
As a Software Engineering Undergraduate Co-op, you will support the development of RF power generators used in semiconductor manufacturing. You will report to the Software Development Manager and work alongside Software and Computer Engineering teams. This is a 6-month, full-time, on-site co-op assignment running from May 2027 to December 2027.
What you'll do#
- Develop a MATLAB-based process automation application to improve FPGA design productivity.
- Gather requirements, build the application, roll it out to the team, and refine it based on feedback.
- Collaborate with Software, Digital, and Control Engineering staff to design prototypes for digital control systems.
- Assist in the design of digital circuits, embedded software in C and C++, and firmware for programmable logic devices using VHDL.
- Participate in the software development process, including daily standups, design planning, code reviews, and feature demonstrations.
- Perform system-level testing and troubleshooting.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program for Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Direct experience with MATLAB and VHDL.
- Basic knowledge of source control systems.
- A hands-on approach to problem-solving and good communication skills.
- Preference is given to students in their fourth or fifth year of study.
- Familiarity with the Linux operating system and Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint).
- Understanding of Agile development processes and tools like Jira is preferred.

- Compensation: $27.00 to $31.00 per hour.
- Benefits: Includes 11 paid holidays, sick time, and 15 paid vacation days for those working at least 20 hours per week.
