About the role#
As an AI Software Engineering PhD Intern, you will work on the design, development, and optimization of AI software solutions. You will contribute to algorithms, frameworks, and architectures across machine learning and computer vision domains. This role involves applied research, hardware-software integration, and system-level deployment to create scalable AI solutions. You will work alongside internal product teams and external partners on projects that support business goals while building your own technical skills.
What you'll do#
- Design and optimize AI software solutions.
- Implement and tune models to improve performance and accuracy.
- Conduct applied research and integrate hardware with software systems.
- Deploy AI solutions at the system level.
- Collaborate on projects that contribute to company objectives.
What you'll need#
- PhD candidate status in engineering or computer science with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Focus on AI topics such as federated learning, image classification, multiscale attention for object detection, computer vision, or feature engineering.
- Coursework or research related to explainability tools.
- Proficiency in data engineering, including handling data imbalance and noisy datasets.
- Strong foundation in linear algebra, statistics, and probability.
- Experience with Python, C++, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and OpenCV.
- Familiarity with Git, cloud concepts, containers, Docker, and MLOps.
- Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Preferred: Experience deploying AI in production, background in the semiconductor industry, first-author publications in top CV conferences, or a portfolio of CV/Image AI projects.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- The role is based on-site in Phoenix, Arizona, or Hillsboro, Oregon.
- The term is rolling.
