About the role#
As a Tax Co-op Accountant, you will join our tax team to support customized tax strategies for our clients. You will work within a regulatory framework to design solutions that meet reporting requirements, minimize risk, and manage returns.
What you'll do#
- Build technical skills in bookkeeping, compilations, reviews, and tax.
- Apply your knowledge of IFRS, ASPE, and the Canadian Income Tax Act.
- Set up files for new clients and manage multiple projects at once.
- Conduct inventory counts and research tax issues to determine their implications.
- Collect and analyze financial data while investigating discrepancies in reports.
- Establish charts of accounts and prepare entries for posting.
- Compute taxes and prepare returns for various entities.
- Draft technical reports, client summaries, and correspondence to share engagement findings.
- Work with the client engagement team to build professional relationships.
- Suggest new approaches to improve work processes using our internal systems.
- Travel as necessary to support client needs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program in commerce or business administration, preferably with a major in accounting or finance.
- Progress toward the prerequisites for the CPA Professional Education Program.
- Previous office experience in tax or accounting is an asset.
- Experience in customer or client service is an asset.
- Familiarity with accounting and tax software is considered an asset.
