About the role#
This rotational internship provides hands-on experience across Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) disciplines within a chemical manufacturing operation. You will spend approximately three weeks in each area, including Environmental Compliance, Air Quality Management, Process Safety Management (PSM), and Occupational Health and Safety. You will partner with EHS professionals to support regulatory compliance, risk reduction, and sustainability initiatives.
What you'll do#
- Manage 1-2 projects within each EHS rotation area throughout the summer.
- Support compliance with NPDES permits, RCRA regulations, and Title V Air Permits.
- Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), incident investigations, and Management of Change (MOC) activities.
- Conduct workplace inspections, safety observations, and hazard identification.
- Collect and analyze environmental monitoring data to support regulatory reporting.
- Lead or support projects focused on waste reduction, emissions tracking, and process optimization.
- Collaborate with engineers, operations, and maintenance teams to identify safety and efficiency improvements.
- Present project findings, reports, and recommendations to site leadership.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Environmental Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Junior or Senior standing is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to work safely in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Coursework or familiarity with OSHA, EPA, RCRA, or Process Safety Management is a plus.
