About the role#
The Chemical Engineering Research and Development department is seeking interns for an 11-12 week program during summer 2027. You will work as a fully integrated member of the team, focusing on small molecule and cross-modality API process development. This role provides insight into the pharmaceutical industry and offers exposure to research and manufacturing divisions through meetings, seminars, and site tours.
What you'll do#
- Take ownership of a chemical engineering research project.
- Perform experimental set-up and maintain accurate electronic notebook records.
- Apply organic synthesis techniques, technology innovation, and process safety evaluation.
- Interpret research results and present findings to the department.
- Practice safe laboratory procedures.
- Participate in team meetings and collaborate with technical mentors.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD program in Chemical Engineering or Biochemical Engineering.
- Experience with lab-based research, process development, or shop floor experience in a pilot plant or manufacturing facility.
- A solid grasp of chemical engineering fundamentals and interest in process scale-up.
- Knowledge of organic chemistry and small molecule API synthesis unit operations.
- Strong technical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to plan, organize, and show self-initiative in a collaborative environment.
