About the role#
MSD is seeking an intern for the Future Talent Program to join our High-Throughput Purification laboratory in South San Francisco. This role focuses on developing analytical, purification, and data science methodologies that support our early research pipeline. You will work within a team to solve compound purification challenges and explore new applications for AI and machine learning in our workflows.
What you'll do#
- Purify and analyze small molecules, peptides, and bioconjugates using HPLC methods.
- Utilize machine learning tools to gain insights from historical data and improve procedures.
- Record experimental details accurately and interpret data for potential scientific publications.
- Participate in team and departmental meetings to gain perspective on the drug development process.
- Present your research findings in both oral and written formats.
- Collaborate with expert groups in medicinal chemistry, high-throughput experimentation, and mass spectrometry.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. program in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Computational Chemistry, Chemical or Biomedical Engineering, Data Science, or Pharmaceutical Science.
- Completion of at least two years of undergraduate study by June 2027.
- Availability to work full-time for 10 to 12 consecutive weeks starting in May or June 2027.
- Basic laboratory skills and experience, such as sample preparation and chemical handling.
- Experience with data science or computer programming, including knowledge of AI, machine learning, or natural language processing.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
- Enthusiasm for learning new skills and contributing to a team environment.
