About the role#
The Future Talent Program offers 10-12 week summer internships within the Discovery Chemistry and Process Research divisions. You will work as a fully integrated member of a project team, gaining exposure to drug discovery and development. This program provides professional development and the opportunity to apply your academic background to real-world pharmaceutical research.
What you'll do#
- Work alongside company scientists in an organic synthesis laboratory.
- Solve synthetic chemistry problems relevant to drug discovery and development.
- Advance chemical synthesis, reaction development, and enabling technologies.
- Engage in high-throughput and data-rich experimentation.
- Conduct bio- and chemocatalysis screening and development.
- Perform laboratory automation, flow chemistry, and labeled compound synthesis.
- Use data science and informatics to improve reaction optimization and process understanding.
- Participate in departmental and project team meetings.
- Maintain accurate electronic laboratory notebooks and follow safe laboratory practices.
- Present your research results in oral and written formats.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a sophomore, junior, or senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in chemistry, or a graduate student pursuing a master's or Ph.D. in Chemistry.
- Completion of at least two years of undergraduate studies by June 2027.
- Availability to work full-time for 10-12 weeks between May and August 2027.
- A strong interest in organic chemistry and pharmaceutical research.
- Basic laboratory skills and prior research experience with standard techniques and electronic laboratory notebooks.
- An overall GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
- Approval from your principal investigator prior to applying.
